The Weald of Kent Ploughing Match Association held another successful Plough Match in 2025 at
Moatenden Farm in Headcorn, TN27 9PT by kind permission of the Dungey family and the Hawkes family on Saturday 13th Septmeber 2025. We’ve had 6+ good, dry years and so were probably due a rainy one, but perhaps not quite that much rain!
Our huge thanks go out to the SE Response 4x4 team who arrived at 6.30am and got stuck in straight away help trade stand staff get onto their stands, along with the Weald of Kent Young Farmers who were back in action at 4pm pushing and pulling to get the visitors all off the field as soon as we could. They all worked incredibly hard with the last vehicles off I believe within an hour or so.
Despite the morning's rain, attendance overall was good, and everyone that we spoke to said they had a surprisingly good day all things considered. Thankfully the sun was out from 2pm to let us all get dried off before packing away.
Congratulations to our ‘Best Trade Stand’ winners, kindly sponsored by South East Farmer. All stands in the main Trade area were judged by a secret shopper who awarded M & A Browns & Sons Ltd as the Best Trade Stand for this year.
The association is very proud to announce that over £5,000 was donated to the following local charities: Kent Hounds (formerly supported Ashford Valley Tickham Hunt), Bolebroke Beagles, Cardiac Risk in the Young (in memory of Ben Hammond), Dandelion Time, Homewood School Young Farmers, Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance Trust, Medical Detection Dogs, R.A.B.I, Riding for the Disabled Association, The Farming Community Network, Ashford and District Young Farmers' Club, Cranbrook Rugby Club and the Weald of Kent Young Farmers' Club.
The Weald of Kent Plough Match invited people to enjoy a fun-filled day including Gymkhana, Terrier Racing, a Raffle, the Tossing of the Sheaf and most importantly a very successful and cheerful Ploughing Competition.
The association wishes to thank our hosts the Dungey family and the Hawkes family for allowing this event to take place and to BTF Partnership for their invaluable and continued support for the 2025 event.
